Condo Pets - always being updated

This is a picture donated by Res. Mgr's wife Marsha W. It is a picture taken of the Mark Glaser boat Grand Slam on 4-9-11 around 3pm as it was returning from a fishing charter and was passing in front of the Haleiwa Surf Condos. This was the last day for this 2011 season to see whales in front of our condos. This article was sent by Chris P. from Reno Nv. ...The Whale... If you read a recent front page story of the San Francisco Chronicle, you would have read about a female humpback whale who had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso and a line tugging in her mouth. A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farallon Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed an environmental group for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her. They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and nudged them, pushed them gently around as she was thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives. The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth said her eyes were following him the whole time, and he will never be the same. May you, and all those you love, be so blessed and fortunate to be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled from the things that are binding you. And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude. I pass this on to you, my friends, in the same spirit. Life is good. Here we have a whale arm flapping in the winds Beginning a breach Another beginning a breach Finishing up a breach Only a tail left This is what we are watching last day of Feb 2011. Great show Remember, you can click onto these pictures to get a better close up of them 2-16-11 breach Heading back after the breach. And splashing back into the ocean. And all these pictures were about 1 1/2 miles off shore. 2-11-16 2-16-11 This whales tail waved back and forth for about 10 different picture frames for what seemed like an eternity. This frame and the next frame are two of those 10. 2-16-11 a whale is heading back into the water after a breach. Only his tail remains above water. Another whale is blowing off in the foreground. 2-16-11 outside of our condos a whale breaches Then he splashes down Sharks When you get to the bottom of this page, you can click onto "older posts" and get another bunches of pages with other condo pets. If you have a picure of one that is not listed here, E it to me and I'll see if I can't get it posted for you. BTW: For th purpose of this blog, small kids are not considered pets, even if they're cute. :o) Smaller than a whale but still welcome as a pet. Whales show up and dance for us here at the condos. Click onto the picture and then curser slightly to the right to get a closer view of him/her. Here the whale is breaching. If you look close, you can see the blow spray from another whale just to the left. Here the whale is going back into the water. This whale is about 2 miles off shore. This lady came up fronting our condo today. Deep sea fishing will be on another thread for now . . . enjoy these http://www.marinelifephotography.com/ This year, it was on July 6, 2009 that they came. Unfortunately, I could not catch them jumping out of the water, but they were going off like they did last year. They came on this one day and then they were gone. I am beginning to draw the conclusion that this is in fact a yearly visit. You can still click onto the picture, then scroll down a bit and get a close up verifying that it is the dolphins you're looking at. These pictures were taken on July 16, 2008. At the time, it seemed like no big deal that the dolphins showed up on that date and jumped around for your viewing pleasure, but then they left and we didn't see them again. Then this year, again in July 2009 they were in the same spot jumping around just like they did before. And it was about the same time of the day, in the late afternoon for about 3 hours (between 3pm - 6pm). I'm wondering if there is some type of cycle that they have where they make a yearly appearance for some sort of annual excursion for our benefit. And all this is done at no additional charge for you, the tenent-tourist guest. See the post in the foreground? That's right outside the channel. There were about 4 dozen dolphins jumping around out there. And there were similar amounts this year. They only stayed a few hours and only on one day. This year they showed up on July 6, 2009. I'll monitor when they come next to confirm a cycle. This is the Dreaded Hawaiian Snake. It is the only snake that is legally on the islands. It gets up to about 3" in length.
